In 2010 and 2011 I served as policy adviser to NSW Minister for the Arts, Virginia Judge. It was an incredibly rewarding and instructive experience, learning to work with two government agencies (Arts NSW and Screen NSW), industry representative bodies and the countless artists and arts workers we met with every week.

My colleague Nicholas Pickard and I organised Crescendo, a summit of artists and creative workers across the State, managed the announcement of a the Western Sydney Arts and Education Precinct, a $24.9 million development in the heart of Parramatta, and drafted an arts and creative industries policy for NSW. A personal achievement was initiating Pop Up Rocks, a project to activate empty retail spaces in The Rocks historic precinct by inviting artists, sculptors, musicians, designers and others to inhabit the area for six months.
